OWH,

By the way, I have to make a comment. We moved to OneWorldHosting back in May from another vendor. I have never been sorry for that decision. OWH has simply been the most reliable and responsive host I've ever seen. Response to my technical questions has always been exceptionally good. Thanks for the follow up.

8. What is Pro-Rating?

1. Where can I see a record of what and when I'm being charged?
You can find out a lot of information such as, "what?" and "when?" about your billing by clicking the Billing History icon in your control panel. There you'll see a screen that contains a line by line statement showing the billing activity for your account, including:

  • Monthly or Yearly Billing
  • Domain Name Fees
  • Resold Account Billing
  • Credits (denoted by a green cr next to the amount)
  • Pro-rated credit when an account upgrade occurs (also denoted by a green cr next to the amount)

2. Can I get an invoice?
Underneath your line by line billing history on the left hand side of the same screen you'll notice a list of links like the following:

You can click on any one of the links to get to a browser friendly, printable invoice for your records:

7. Why do you use the auto-bill auto-renew method of billing?
"Uptime" is one of the key components by which all hosting companies are measured and "Auto-bill" or "auto-renew" is the best billing method by which to ensure that your web site remains up until requested otherwise.

8. What is Pro-Rating and how does it work?
Pro-Rating refers to our billing software's charging of partial months whenever a customer requests an upgrade or package change to their account. When a customer starts hosting with us their account receives a billing day (1-28). This is the day of the month they will be charged again for hosting, the exact date to be determined by their billing cycle (monthly, annually, 2 year). If their account is a monthly then every month on that day their account will be charged for the next month's hosting, for annual then next year on that day they will be charged, etc.
Pro-Rating occurs when a customer wants to make changes to the package type for one of their accounts, as in the case of an account upgrade.
The first step our billing software takes is to credit your account for the amount of hosting left - if you originally paid for 1 year of hosting and have 8 months left it credits your acct. for the 8 months. Then it will charge forward based on the current cycle of the account (monthly or 1 or 2 years), if the account is set for annual it will charge for one year forward ($145 for Standard, etc) plus whatever portion of the month is left to get you to the billing day of the month for your account (if you make this change on the 14th of a month and your account's billing day is the 23rd it will charge for 9 days of hosting). In this example you would be credited for 8 months or roughly $100 then charged $3.60 for the 9 days from the 14th to the original billing day of the 23rd, and then it will charge forward for one year - $3.60 + $145.00 = 148.60 for 374 days of hosting in this example.
